The crop planting assessment, conducted by FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Cooperatives and Rural Development in South Sudan, covers rainfall performance, area planted, input supply, agricultural activities as compared to the previous year, pests and diseases, household livestock, pastures and movement, and the general status of households in terms of stocks and market prices. This assessment covers the entire country; however, due to insecurity, some areas were not accessible. This assessment is a yearly activity carried out by the national Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry Cooperatives and Rural Development, with financial and technical support from FAO.
