Monthly Operation Overview - June 2015
The Logistics Cluster is responsible for providing logistics coordination, information management and, where there is a gap in logistics infrastructure, WFP, as lead-agency of the Logistics Cluster, acts as a ‘Provider of Last Resort’ by offering common logistics services to support the humanitarian community in their response operations.
Highlights of the Operation
In June, the Logistics Cluster airlifted 290 mt of humanitarian supplies on behalf of 19 organisations to 23 destinations.
The Logistics Cluster facilitated the airlift of over 6,000 ‘survival kits’ into areas within southern Unity, cut off from aid for a prolonged period due to insecurity.
Cargo for the second Logistics Cluster barge from Bor to Malakal is currently being consolidated, and will be dispatched to the Upper Nile State at the end of July.
The Logistics Cluster continues to utilize ad-hoc rotations from WFP’s Mi26 helicopter for locations with a significant amount of pending cargo.
