Highlights
- Hundreds of metric tonnes looted from trucks in Western Equatoria. Sixteen WFP trucks and 34 commercial trucks (loaded with more than 800 mt of WFP food) were travelling from Juba to Wau via Mundri when clashes broke out there 22-23 May, halting the trucks’ movement. On the way to the nearest safe location, Yei, they were stopped and food forcefully off-loaded from the trucks. Though the members of the convoy returned to Juba on 01 June, 15 of the WFP trucks remain impounded in Yei. WFP calls for the return of the trucks and movement within the country’s Western corridor was suspended, affecting WFP’s operations and prepositioning in Greater Bahr el Ghazal, Unity and Upper Nile.
