Juba city council is paying close attention to the water supplied to resident of Juba city, amid fears of cholera in Juba town.
On Tuesday, Juba city council issued an order directing water suppliers to distribute clean and safe water to the residents.
Speaking with Radio Miraya, the deputy Mayor of Juba City, Ater Yel, said water suppliers have been advised to avoid fetching and distributing water directly from the river Nile.
The deputy mayor warned that his office will not hesitate to take action against any supplier that defies this directive.
“We have given directives to all water tankers to avoid taking water directly from the river. They have to go and take the water from the companies which are providing clean water.”
On Monday, Dr John Rumunu, the director preventive health services, announced that one person died of cholera and 30 others were admitted at Juba Teaching hospital.
