The Logistics Cluster is responsible for providing logistics coordination, Information Management; and, where there is a gap in logistics infrastructure, WFP, as the lead agency of the Logistics Cluster, acts as a ‘Provider of Last Resort’ by offering common logistics services to support the humanitarian community in their response operations.
Highlights of the Operation
During the month of May, the Logistics Cluster facilitated the delivery of 574 mt on behalf of 44 organisations to 26 destinations.
On 20 May, the barge carrying over 330 mt of shelter, WASH, and other Non-Food Items (NFIs) completed offloading in Malakal.
On 23 May, an additional barge (the third coordinated by the Logistics Cluster this year), began loading in Bor (photo on the right). The final destination for this barge will be Malakal; expected arrival in Malakal is late June.
The Logistics Cluster erected an additional common store in Bor. The total storage space available in Bor is now 2,320 sqm.
