27 May 2016 – The UNMISS Rwanbat contingent and the Mission’s medical clinic have provided one day mobile clinic services to Muruwari village, the neighboring community of the UNMISS-Torit camp, to commemorate the International Peacekeepers’ Day. Nearly 300 men and women received HIV /Aids awareness, blood pressure test and health advice.
The Rwandan Doctor Eric Nsengiyumva advised the community to know their status and this will help in planning to live longer.
“It is important for to know your HIV/Aids status, it does not you will immediately die if you’re found HIV positive and it’s not the end of live but it will help you to plan how to live longer” Nsengiyumva said. The village secretary Lucia Samuel the awareness and the free test of blood pressure was opportunity for the most of poor who could not pay for test and consultation fee in the expensive private clinics. Said Samuel, “This is a golden chance for poor people who could not manage to get money the test blood pressure, I urge UNMISS to continue this to help the community”.
Zacheus is the village chief Oyo Atilio, he suggested that this service is a serious need in the community and It should include helping the children also.
Atilio Said, “The service is seriously only of the needs my community is lacking, I may suggest, next time you have to include helping our children too”.
