Good morning ladies and gentlemen:

Welcome to the weekly United Nations press briefing, being broadcast live on UN Radio Miraya from UNMISS HQs in Juba; also a warm welcome to radio listeners who may also have tuned in this morning, and to media who have joined us from Torit via teleconference.

For today’s briefing we are joined by my colleague, Mr. Eugene Nindorera, who is the Head of the Human Rights Section in UNMISS and he is going to brief today on the process of transitional justice.

Just by way of introduction, Mr. Nindorera, has served Head of Human Rights Division for the UN Peacekeeping operation in Cote D’Ivoire from 2012-16. Previous to this, he was also the Chief of Human Rights and Protection Section for the UN Liberia Mission from 2007-2012. Additionally, previous positions held by Mr. Nindorera include International Expert for Human Rights for United Nations Office for Project Services in 2006, as well as Human Rights Adviser to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Togo; and from 1996-2001, Minister for Human Rights Constitutional Reforms and Relations between the Government and National Assembly of Burundi.

Good Morning Eugene and Welcome to the UN Weekly Briefing.

Thank you all and welcome. Good morning. I’m just going to do some kind of remarks on traditional justice in South Sudan.
