Overview
As of the 30th of April 2016, the total number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the UN Mission in South Sudan’s Protection of Civilians (PoC) site in Bentiu was 105,558. The second April 2016 population count was held in Bentiu PoC from the 28 - 30 April 2016. Compared to the previous count conducted in mid April, the population decreased from 108,190 individuals to 105,558 individuals, despite registering more than 650 new arrivals between the two counts. The drop in IDP population figure may be attributed to the ongoing humanitarian responses in Unity State outside the PoC, preparation of farmland before the rainy season and joining/ visiting families in their place of origin. In addition, IDPs have also had the chance to change their biometric cards to Ding Ding and Bentiu Town.
