South Sudan: The ICGLR Congratulates the Government and the people of South Sudan

Bujumbura, Burundi 29th April, 2016: The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) wishes to congratulate the Government and the people of the Republic of South Sudan at this significant moment towards the formation of the Transitional Government of National Unity (TGNU) and expresses his gratitude and admiration to all parties and stakeholders who worked tirelessly to make this a reality.

The Executive Secretariat underscores the formation of the Transitional Government of National Unity as an important milestone in the long walk towards sustainable peace, stability and development for South Sudan and continued demonstrate its unswerving solidarity with the Government and the people of South Sudan as they embark on the arduous journey to foster peace and reconciliation in their country.

The ICGLR is confident that the interest and aspirations of the people of South Sudan will always prevail and urges the Transitional Government of National Unity to demonstrate the same level of resolve and commitment in the implementation of the peace agreement.

The ICGLR further calls upon all stakeholders in the Republic of South Sudan to continue preaching the messages of peace and reconciliation.

The ICGLR Member States includes: Republic of Angola, Republic of Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Kenya, Republic of Rwanda, Republic of Sudan, Republic of South Sudan, United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of Uganda and Republic of Zambia
