Khartoum, Jan. 10 (SUNA) - Sudan and South Sudan State have agreed on extending the period set for delivering humanitarian aid through the UN Development Program (UNDP) to South Sudan to another six months, which is to begin on January 10.
A statement issued by the Commission for Humanitarian Aid stated that the agreement comes in the context of Sudan contribution to the stability in South Sudan by providing aid and facilities to the affected people in Sudan and the comers to Sudan through the joint Border States.
The agreement was signed by the Commissioner General for Humanitarian Aid, Ahmed Mohamed Adam, for Sudan and the Humanitarian Attache at South Sudan Embassy in Khartoum, Kebbe Germaya Abram.
The statement explained that the agreement aims for delivering 50,000 tons of food materials to the affected areas in South Sudan, indicating that around 30,000 tons arrived in South Sudan until the end of December, 2015.
The statement said that the memo of understanding gives facilities for transporting humanitarian aid via land and river through passages that were agreed upon between the two governments and the UNDP.
