Situation Overview
On the night of 4th-02-2015. Unidentified armed group of Men people attacked Tore-Wandi Boma of Bangolo Payam in Mundri County in Western Equatoria State.
According to the IDPs in Bangolo, the attackers shot to death a total of 5 persons. 4 of the dead were civilians and consisting of 1 male child, 1 male youth and 2 adult men, while 1of the attackers wearing Military uniform and in possession of basic essential consumable goods (sugar, soap, etc was among the dead, probably hit by a stray bullet from his fellow attackers.
Some houses were also burnt down by the attackers destroying all belonging inside. This violence forced the residents of Tore- Wandi Boma to flee northwards to areas in Bangolo Payam, namely Diko Boma, Bangolo Boma and Ladingwa Boma. IDPs who returned to the village to collect food stuffs from their garden report that houses have been looted. IDPs remain still fear to return to the village given the absence of police or other government forces in the area. The lack of security forces in Tore-Wandi has left a security vacuum which has been exploited by the criminal and pastoralist wandering in the county.
The situation is worsened by the uncontrolled possession of fire arms by pastoralists.
